A Helping Hand for Team Terry membersComments Off

After a huge influx of new members, Team Terry have been inundated with requests for advice and help in understanding certain aspects of our website. To save time in the long run, we have provided this post as a helping hand for you guys to gain a better understanding of how we work… Hope it helps:

Asian Handicap

There is a (reasonably) detailed explanation of the Asian Handicap market already on the site, one that was posted a while ago (HERE), but I thought it’d be a good idea to add some win/lose examples…

Asian Handicap Bookies Equiv. Winning Possibilities Draw/Void Losing Possibilities
1.5 +2 GOAL H'CAP W, D, L by 1 -- L by 2+
1 -- W,D L by 1 L by 2+
0.5 D'BLE CHANCE W,D -- L
0 DRAW NO BET W D L
-0.5 WIN W -- L, D
-1 -- W by 2+ W by 1 L, D
-1.5 -1 GOAL H'CAP W by 2+ -- L, D, W by 1

We will also sometime tip what is known as a ‘quarter ball’, where the stake is split between two bets. This is common place when using the Asian Handicap market. For example, £20 on “-0.75 Asian Handicap” equates to placing £10 on -0.50 and half on -1.00. If the odds were at evens for this bet, you would win:

£20 (+£20 stake) if your team won by 2 or more;

£10 (+£20 stake) if your team won by 1

-£20 if your team didn’t win.

This is a good bet when  you think a team will win convincingly. If they do, you win at full odds, if they win (which you predicted) but just by the one goal, you still turn a profit.

There have been a fair few asking us to explain decimal odds. Typically, bookmakers will use fractional odds and many are more familiar with this format. However, we will always sway towards using decimal odds. Anyway, the odds to the left show a few examples of decimal/fraction conversions. This is just a guide to help you become more familiar with the odds we use in our tips so that you can make your own decisions regarding what to bet.

We will offer help wherever we can. If you want a detailed explanation of anything posted on the site, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

Hopefully this helps some of you, but if you need any more help, just email any of us (check our tipster pages) or get in touch via twitter…
