NBA Tips – 16/01/2013Comments Off

I’ve won 8 of my last 9 and I’m on a 6-0 streak this week since midnight Sunday passed. You’d figure we are due a losing night sometime soon, or even a 1-1/1-2 maybe, but we’ll be looking for yet another 2-0 tonight. Whether it comes or not is another thing, but it’s already been a good week and a solid 16-7 run in January. Let’s take a look at tonight’s games.

Featured:Washington Wizards @ Sacramento Kings

What can you say? The Wizards are on a 3 game win streak and they appear to be improving with Wall back in the fold, but it has to be noted they’ve been a poor side all year with an awful, awful road record. They’ve won only 1 of their 16 games on their travels this season and although it’s a fitter and much faster Wizards side at the moment, the Kings are happily coming off of a win also and have been much stronger at home. It’s not unusual for the Kings to BLITZ past 100 points at home whilst the Wizards have very often struggled to reach that mark. The Kings scored 124 on the lowly Cavs and pulled out a spread covering victory. They did struggle a bit on the defensive side of things but it was a better performance and it’ll be offense that wins this game. Let’s try the Kings.

Chicago Bulls @ Toronto Raptors
This is what we call ‘fading the public’. We have an in-form side in the Bulls that everyone loves right now. I know for a fact a fair few of our members have already decided they’re going to bet on the Bulls in some sort of multiple or as a single tonight. Well, this is where I disappoint those people. The Bulls are coming off of a HUGE win and this is just a let down spot for them against a Raptors side that plays good Basketball at home. The reason why I’m taking this? As well as playing some good Basketball as of late, the Raptors have made a habit of performing on the second night of a back to back run. A closer look at their record in this situation tells us they don’t tend to tire, but often save themselves more so on the first night and thrive on the second. They’ve covered the points spread in 11 of the 14 times they’ve played a night two back to back game. The Bulls beat The Raptors 102-101 earlier in the season, in Chicago, and I think just because the Bulls beat the Hawks in the fashion they did that the Raptors are being made too much of an under dog here. This one could be close, and Toronto COULD even win it.

New Orleans Hornets @ Boston Celtics
Lately the Celtics have just been so good defensively. I like this team at that end of the court right now. The Celtics have managed to score 100 in their last two games but I think it could be tougher for them tonight against this Hornets side. Boston have limited their opponents to under 94 points in six of their last seven and given the opinion I have that Boston will pull out a win here (whether they cover the large -7.5 spread set or not) I do think they will take away from the Hornets shooting game, but with the Hornets possessing some defensive qualities of their own, this game could be tight.
