Finally, after Terry and George stealing the limelight my specialist area is starting! I’ve got a few tips for you today, and I’m looking to catch up with the other two with overall profit!!

Flamengo v Quissama FC (7pm)

A bet from the Carioca state championship where one of Rio’s biggest clubs Flamengo start their state championship campaign. Fla were blighted with problems on and off the field last season and during the break things haven’t got much better especially with star forward Vagner Love leaving to sign for CSKA Moscow. Flamengo are against the minnows Quissama who will have very little interest in attacking Flamengo but will happily sit back and try to absorb the pressure. Fla’s fans will quickly get on their teams back if they fail to lead in the opening stages and this was often their undoing last season. If Quissama manage to avoid conceding in the opening exchanges to what will no doubt be a poor Flamengo side then I’m sure that Quissama won’t be receiving the hammering that everyone is expecting.

Sao Paulo v Mirassol (7pm)

Serie D (fourth division) side Mirassol travel to Sao Paulo in their opening game of the Paulista championship and the serie D outfit have their work cut out. Sao Paulo are expected to take the competition seriously in hope of stopping Santos from getting the record of four straight titles and they’ll be looking to send out a message by beating on of the Paulista’s weaker sides. Sao Paulo has recently signed Juventus defender Lucio who I expect to sure up SP’s shaky defensive capabilities. With Lucas Moura leaving to sign for PSG the SP forwards will be looking to prove that they weren’t a one man team and I expect them to prove that to use Saturday night.

Bernardo v Santos (9:30pm)

Santos will be looking to add their record fourth straight Paulista title this year meaning they’ll often field a full team unlike the other big sides in the championship. This is Sao Bernardo’s first season at this level having won promotion from the Paulista A2 last season, they really couldn’t have asked for a harder opening game. Santos are expecting to give a full debut to Walter Montillo, the former Cruzeiro play maker was signed for a large $R12million and they’ll be looking to him to add that extra bit of quality for Neymar to feed off. I’m expecting Sao Bernardo to play with 11 men behind the ball and try to hit Santos on the break, but as the game goes on I expect Sao Bernardo to tire and with players like Neymar, Montillo and Andre (who I’m expecting big things of this year) Santos should make the most of their opportunities.

CA Linense v Guarani (9:30pm)

Last season’s runner up Guarani will be looking to make an impressive start to their campaign with a victory over minnows CA linense. Guarani’s undoing a lot of the time last campaign was their inability to win away from home, I think that will most certainly change this season. Guarani have loaned young Sao Paulo forward Rafinha who I’m expecting to start on Saturday. This is Linense’s manager Bruno Quadros first ever match as a manager at any level and his lack of experience along with his lack of quality in his playing squad should see his side relegated. I expect Guarani to win here be I’ll be taking the draw no bet as insurance.

Atletico Sorocaba v Sao Caetano (9:30)

I expect Sao Caetano to make the play offs this year (top 8) and to do so they’re going to have to beat by far the weakest team in the league. At national level Atletico Sorocaba have only ever got as high as Serie C and I firmly believe that they’ll finish bottom of the Paulista league this season with their only chances of winning any games coming at home, I don’t think this will be one of those occasions. Sao Caetano have recently signed former world cup winner Rivaldo who’s the tender age of 40, although I don’t expect Rivaldo to play for Sao Caetano much this season his experience off the field helping players improve their game could be crucial. I’m expecting Sao Caetano to make a winning start on Saturday night.
