Four tips today from me, after getting 4/4 last Sunday, I (and I’m sure you) would love a repeat to build on our solid profits so far. We are visitnig four different leagues today. Be sure to watch out for the kick off times, some early starters!!!
Fiorentina v Napoli (11:30am)
These two sides will both expecting to be fighting for Champions league spot come the end of the season, but the recent results from Fiorentina make it look increasingly difficult. A shock 2-0 defeat at home against lowly Pescara and the defeat at Udinese now leave them 7 points behind today’s opponents. Napoli have already had good news this week after having their two points deduction overturned, which actually moves them in to second place. After winning their last 3 Serie A fixtures, scoring 9 and conceding just 1, they will go into this game looking to improve the run. Napoli have managed 25 goals in their last 10 games, and will pose enough of a threat to the Fiorentina who are now without a home clean sheet in 5. With Jovetic one end, and Cavani the other, I can see some goals. However, I would say based on recent form and performances, back Cavani and the away side to get something… The value here is not to be missed
Groningen v Utrecht (11:30am)
After a month off thanks to the winter break, these two sides come together looking for three points. Groningen, in my opinion are a poor team in the Dutch Eredivisie, highlighted by 2 home wins in their last 14 home games. They lack any real firepower, and this is highlighted by the fact that attacking midfielder de Leeuw is the only played to have scored more than twice this season so far… Utrecht have been solid this season and sit in 6th place; 6 points clear of 7th. They have scored more and conceded fewer than their opponents. Zambian Jacob Mulenga is one to watch. Their defence is strong, conceding fewer than Feyenoord and Ajax, so a clean sheet isn’t out of the question. I like 1-0, 2-0 and 2-1 to the away side. The value certainly lies with them and I’d be surprised to see them lose.
Chelsea v Arsenal (1:30pm)
After letting a 2 goal lead slip at home against the improving Southampton, the pressure is once again on Benitez as he struggles to find any consistency. Without a defeat in 5 away from home, Arsenal will no doubt fancy their chances. Chelsea have failed to score in 3 of their last 5 at home, but they are very capable of goals, and against a defence who have 2 clean sheets in 9 away from home, I’ll be surprised if they don’t manage 2 or more goals today. Defensively they are strong and on average concede less than one goal per game; a trend I expect to continue. I wouldn’t rule out a home clean sheet, but I can genuinely see a solid home win. Initially, I had looked at -1.00 Asian Handicap, but was surprised to see the odds on the home win so high. Take on the Asian Handicap if you like, but the home win is equally as good value.
Fortuna Dusseldorf v Augsburg (4:30pm)
Dusseldorf started the season in a bizarre fashion, keeping 5 consecutive clean sheets; a solid record for a newly promoted side. They then hit a poor run of form as they were unable to score. In the run up to the winter break however, their home form improved dramatically, and they’ve now won their last 3 home games, beating Frankfurt and Stuttgart without conceding; scoring 6. Augsburg have the worst away record in the league, with 3 points from 8 away fixtures. They are the only side without a win on the road, and this is very unlikely to change this afternoon. With Dusseldorf the side in the Bundesliga with the fewest average shot (and shots on target) per game, I would forgive you for thinking they might struggle to get all three points. However, with 7 clean sheets in 17 games, and against a side with just 12 goals all season (8 fewer than Dusseldorf), a 1-0 or 2-0 win seems most likely – Win to Nil looks like good value too…
