Still being updated. Please check back at 7.45 for all bets. 4-0 run last two days has us well on our way to another big profitable week. Tonight, I said it was my favorite play of the season and I all but promised a win and suggested double stakes. Pacers covered the spread, that’s all that matter, we were right. Tonight, I’m honestly looking at this Toronto team against the Celtics and saying wow… Two nights in a row and we have two of the most solid bets I’ve seen all year back to back! I’m excited for this one!
Boston Celtics @ Toronto Raptors (12.00am)
No Rajon Rondo – no playoffs? Remains to be seen, but the Celtics are certainly hot right now. But, the Raptors have been playing good Basketball at home and they’re so hard to beat their. The defending champions Miami Heat took a strong victory in Toronto on Sunday, but this team is well rested since and looking to bounce back. With Rudy Gay in the side the Raptors are going to be one of the stronger home sides in the finish to the season in my opinion, and we have a Boston Celtics team that will definitely be looking ahead to a huge showdown with the LA Lakers tomorrow. Toronto, however, has a solid two day rest after this game. Bookies have quite blatantly posted a smaller line to try and tempt some money on the Boston Celtics +3, but that’s a trap. As well as the Lakers game tomorrow, they then face the Nuggets on the weekend. Three big games in a short space after playing last night, it’s a tough spot for the Celtics here. On paper it is such an easy trap to fall in to, but experience in the NBA has really taught me don’t just jump at what might seem an obvious bet. Last nights preview was packed with stats that couldn’t be ignored, and my favorite tonight is the Raptors have a 6-0 record against the bookies spread this season, when playing at home and trying to avenge a double digit loss. You also have to consider the lack of depth the Celtics have right now. I really, really like this bet.
New York Knicks @ Washington Wizards (12.00am)
Same opening line as every Wizards preview. The Wizards covered yet again last time out, beating the (insert next victim name here) and this time it was the LA Clippers. +3 point underdogs saw them cover with a 8 point win over the Clippers, and an outright win against the Knicks again here tonight is a distinct possibility. Carmelo Anthony is just an NBA star no doubt, but with the Knicks indifferent road performances, there’s probably little chance he’ll look any better than John Wall – or as good as, even. Wall has led this Wizards team so well at home and they’ve rallied to turn their season around since he returned. They’re 14-6 against the spread and with a strong home winning record since Wall’s return, and their best results have come against top sides. Bulls, Thunder, Nuggets & Clippers have been just a few of the Wizards victim. The better the opponents offense is, the better they seem to play and the more they score. Knicks are definitely a good offense. It’s also interesting to note the Knicks haven’t covered any spread on the road where they’ve been between a 3 and 6 point favorite – which they are here. I believe they’re 0-5. I will have to point out the Wizards have lost ten straight in this series, but it’s also fair to point out they’ve been nothing short of crap for a good few years, until the second half of this season.
Milwaukee Bucks @ Utah Jazz (2.00am)
Well, last night the Bucks put in their best performance of the season. They averaged over 60% shooting in the first half as they slayed the Denver Nuggets on their own court. What was the end outcome? They fell away in the 4th, didn’t have the quality to see a game out and lost by 8 – as we all know. Tonight, they’re energy is going to be very low enterting the 4th quarter with a second TOUGH road game scheduled. The Jazz at home aren’t quite the 20-3 Nuggets, but they do have a similar 18-5 record and are comfortable favorites to win the game. Given the HUGE effort the Bucks gave last night, only to exert that energy and still lose by 8, I just wonder why the spread is so modest at 5.5 here. They’ve covered more than 15 of the 23 spreads at home this season and it’s a rare occassion this solid home team drops a game to someone like the Bucks. Had the Bucks went and shot their regular below 50% shooting last night, they’d of lost by 20-30 points. Dalaembert averages 5 points a game and scored 35 last night. Go figure. He’s back to 10 at most tonight as the Bucks really show how much energy they exerted last night. Take the Jazz on the spread.
Indiana Pacers @ Philadelphia 76ers (12.00am)
Well, the Indiana Pacers have drawn the unfortunate short straw of being the ONLY team – that’s right, the ONLY team in the NBA this season to play a back to back to back spot. Basically, they played Monday, last night, and they’re playing tonight. They covered -5 spreads Monday and Tuesday and won both games, but tonight they’re a small underdog against a surging Philly side. -2.5 is a small spread for a team that can really be considered big home favorites, and given the situation the Pacers are in, Philly are. Their home record may only be 15-11, but the majority of tha winning difference has been put up in 2013 and they’re playing their best basketball of the season. Despite their amazing home record Indiana actually have a strong losing record on the road, at 10-16. Philly have only dropped two games at home this year and they’ve won their last 3 games straight, so they’re in good form. As good as the Pacers are, I think you’d have to take a shot on their opponents if they were near enough ANY team in the NBA given the horrible schedule they’ve been handed. Even if they play hard and take a lead in to half time, I just find it hard to see past them looking seriously tired and fatigued at some point in this game. -2.5 is a more than justified spread if this was only game 2 of a back to back, and I’d expect a small -1 on the Pacers if both teams were playing fresh. But Philadelphia are well rested whilst this is 3rd game in 3 nights for Indiana – tough, tough spot – and I woke up with this game in my head but expecting a much bigger spread of maybe -5.
