Sunday sees a very difficult round of state championship fixtures and I’ve been able to find three bets that I’m happy with.
Corinthians vs Palmeiras (7PM)
Corinthians are currently unbeaten in 5 games and have always had a fantastic home record in all competitions and with a win here they could potential go top of the Paulista championship. Both sides will look to rest key players with Copa Lib games coming up but I really like Corinthians back up squad at the moment. Young Corinthians forward Romarinho will possibly be given the nod to start upfront and he will be eager to prove his worth as a starting player after just a handful of substitute appearances this season. Pal who have also hit a decent run of form including a midweek win in the Copa Libertedores will feel that there is no reason they can’t pick up a positive result here, away from home Pal usually use the first 20 minutes of the game to work out their opponents by keeping a tight shape which is something I think they’ll do again here which is why I’m opting for half time draw.
Oeste vs Penapolense (9:30PM)
High flying Penapolense travel to struggling Oeste in what should be a great game between two very attacking teams. Penapolense have been very impressive this season with some really strong away performances especially away to Palmeiras, one thing I really like about Penapolense is that their wingers attacking the wide space really well constantly pushing the full backs deeper into their own half and if they do come up against a poor full back then they tend to punish them. I have been really disappointed with Oeste who I thought would have a good Paulista campaign but their inability to finish chances has been very costly to them. In just 7 Penapolense games there has been a total of 20 goals (11 for 9 against) so I’m not giving up completely on Oeste grabbing a result here provided they put away one or two of the chances that inevitably they will create. Penapolense will be eager to get this game off to a flyer and silence the crowd as well as an already confidence sapped side, by doing this they are likely to leave gaps in midfield which the 5 man Oeste midfield could counter on so I cannot see this game being 0-0 at the break.
Flamengo vs Botafogo (9:30PM)
It’s been over a week since our last Flamengo goals bet so here’s another and hopefully another win as Flamengo are fast becoming my favourite team to bet on. This game will see group A and B leaders of the Carioca championship face off and I think we’re in for a tasty affair. Flamengo have managed an impressive 13 goals in their opening 6 games with 7 of those goals coming from forward Hernane who will be looking to add to his goal tally. Botafogo have an even better record infront of goal as they’ve bagged 15 goals in just 6 games with the old master Seedorf managing four of those, Seedorf has been impressive in his 4 outings for botafogo this season and his quality could see the Fla defence opened up on a few occasions. With both teams looking for a win to add to their impressive start to the season I think we could be in for a bit of a goal fest here.
Corinthians vs Palmeiras – half time draw (2.2 bet365)
Oeste vs Penapolense – over 1.00 first half goals (1.8 bet365)
Flamengo vs Botafogo – over 2.5 goals (1.86 Pinnacle)
