The winners of the Championship play-off final are set to earn £120 million as Crystal Palace and Watford lock horns this bank holiday Monday at Wembley.
This is sure to be an eagerly anticipated match-up that has divided the neutral with many finding it difficult to choose between the two for many reasons. Both sides have had plenty of time to prepare for this match with their semi finals being decided two weeks ago.
Come Monday evening one of the sides will be stepping a foot into familiar pastures and once again enjoying the limelight that comes with being an elite Premier League club. But who will it be?
There has not been a shortage of action between the pair this season; they have shared nine goals in two matches, games that ended in a 2-2 draw and a 3-2 victory for the hornets.
The difference in the two teams’ style on and off the pitch has split the neutral supporter and pundit alike. Many claim that Watford is the more attacking, attractive and dominant force, while Palace is the side that have been known to grind out results when it matters.
On the flip side away from the field, Watford have been criticised for the way they have found a loop hole in the transfer system and used that to their advantage. The Pozzo family have brought in talent from Udinese and Granada and filled the Watford line-up with loanees.
Whilst the Eagles have done things completely different to their rivals and they have received praise for the way they have nurtured talent from the clubs youth system, talent such as Manchester United bound Wilfried Zaha and Jonny Williams.
Despite Watford finishing two places and five points higher, the form book goes right out of the window in one-off matches like these.
It is a battle of wits and composure and who can keep their nerves in touch; with inspirational managers at the helm one thing is for sure, passion will be in abundance, making for a lively encounter.
