The way in which Bernard and Atletico conspired to cost us last week was pretty awful. With any luck, they can make it up to us with another poor away performance tonight.
Flamengo vs. Atletico Mineiro – (20.00pm)
Flamengo’s home form may look nothing glamorous, but neither is Atletico’s away form. Mineiro have won just 2 away games in the last year, and will be travelling with a number of key absentees this evening. As well as injuries to Jo and Ronaldinho, Bernard is once again suspended due to his ridiculous antics in Atletico’s last home game. Flamengo will be looking to build on draws with Coritiba and Botafogo, and a 2-1 win over ASA in the Copa. Last season, trio of Jo, Bernard and Ronaldinho accounted for 16 of Mineiro’s 22 away goals. Mineiro last won here in 2008, which leaves Flamengo undefeated in the previous 5 meetings on this ground (having won the last 4) and given the lack of flare in the travelling Mineiro squad, there’s no reason why Fla can’t take advantage.
