Bundesliga Tip – 09/08/13Comments Off

Bundesliga kicks off this weekend, and I have a one tip from Germany this weekend, along with a few from the Dutch Eredivisie (coming later). I was surprised that NEC v Groningen saw 5 goals, but not surprised to see the away side take all three points. I’m still kicking myself for taking unders instead of Groningen (who were priced at 3.20)…

Bayern Munich v Borussia Monchengladbach (7pm Friday)

The opening game of the season in the Bundesliga is between the Champions and the over achievers from the 2011-12 season. Bayern’s season last time round needs no introduction, yet they’ve managed to strengthen their side further with the additions of Thiago and Gotze; not to mention the coup that is Pep Guardiola…

Today’s opponents have acquired some new talent too this summer; most notably bringing in the impressive Max Kruse from Freiburg and attacking midfielder Raffael from Dynamo Kiev. This new attacking threat should help them this season, but against a side who conceded 18 goals in their 34 games this season the ‘Gladbach fans may have to wait a week to see them in full flow. The value is tight in this game, but there is value on the Asian Handicap for Bayern, who should be able to manage 3+ goals in this fixture. I have the handicap priced at 1.95, so anything above that is a good value bet. Don’t read too much in to the Super Cup defeat to Dortmund – the same way you wouldn’t read much into the Charity Shield in England.
