There is one game in Ligue 1 in France and there is definitely some value…
Bastia v Lorient (7:30pm)
Bastia will be largely unchanged from the side that forced a 2-2 draw in Etienne with a pair of late goals, whilst Lorient are still struggling to get any quality consistency within their line ups given the lack of firepower they have right now. Traore, Kone and Diallo amongst others will all miss out once again for Lorient, whilst striekrs Giles Sunu and Jeremie Aliadiere are still out. The reliance on Lorient’s current front man, Aboubakar, seems mis-placed as the Cameroonian scored 2 in 28 games for Valenciennes last season. It makes the task harder for a Lorient side that has only managed 6 goals this season (all at home) and have lost their first 4 away games with scoring. What’s worst is dating back to December of last season, Orient have only scored 5 goals in 14 away games and they’ve all been scored by Aliadiere. The last player to score outside of that run was the absent Traore, and tonight’s absentees are responsible for 12 of Lorient’s 15 away goals dating back over a year. They really struggle on their troubles and they simply can’t afford to be without so many players. The only new absentee for Bastia is the 1 game suspension of cdm Romaric for yellow card accumulation. The home side have been in terrific form since returning to Ligue 1, and they’ve only lost twice to sides outside of the top 6 twice at home. They’ve lost 1 of the last 10 and conceded just 5 times, which presents an obvious problem for goalless Lorient. Diakite’s robust play will provide some cover in Romaric’s absence, whilst Bruno should continue up front with Boudebouz somewhere around him. You can expect Bastia to really dominate the possession with their style of play but they are prone to being pulled in to boring draws with teams intent on sitting back when they come here. I think Lorient will come and put up a wall just to stay in the game and give themselves a chance late on, but if they score first Bastia shouldn’t struggle from there on in.
